The Kikorongo Women Community (KWC) has been doing amazing work in their neighborhood for years, and we’re excited to share what they’re up to next. They’re expanding on last year’s projects by building a secure wall around their new student center, as well as adding latrines and a solar power system. This wall isn’t just for show; it will help them create a vegetable garden, giving students a hands-on chance to dive into sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and cooking.
But that’s not all. Their new student center will be a game-changer for local kids who can’t make the daily trek to school. Now, they will have a place to learn without needing to travel back and forth every day. Many families struggle with school costs, registration, and uniforms, and KWC is all about making education accessible for even the most disadvantaged. We are thankful, as well, for the expertise of the Next Nova Leap construction team. Their community integration and engagement is vital for ensuring local community members are actively benefiting from the project work.
What’s really cool is that they’re not doing this alone; they’re teaming up with the local organization, Kasese Platform Advocacy Network (KAPLANET), which has been providing incredible technical support. Muthundi Nason, KAPLANET’s director, is actively involved in various sustainable development projects in nearby areas, which makes this collaboration even more impactful. We’re so grateful for their partnership and the positive change it’s bringing to the community.

The school team is super grateful for all the visitors checking out their project. The travelers and visitors who come for the educational exchanges have brought positivity and hope, and some even showed up with donations and supplies. Thanks to these generous gifts, students are getting the clothes and school supplies they need, and teachers have the latest materials to work with. The school is also pushing for a nutritional program for the kids, plus making sure every child in the community has clean clothes and shoes. They do great work.
