Uganda

Uganda has over fifty million citizens, with a median age of just 17 years. The city of Kampala is the most populated, with most of the citizens living elsewhere in more rural areas. Developments in education, healthcare, and agriculture are increasing as more and more communities feel empowered with the support of the government and travelers.

Local Challenges:

Similar to other nations, there is a literacy rate of 72% with added difficulty for rural areas and girls. The initial focus has had success, and now the disparity is clearer as the shift from primary school to secondary education takes place.

Government Initiatives:

The recent commitment for Health Security II will empower the government and population to respond to any future public health emergencies. The strategic plan and improvement framework has paved the way (literally) for increased access to healthcare, education, and public health interventions.

Our Impact:

In 2024, we began our first collaboration in Uganda. Our partnership aims to increase rural school infrastructure, access to technology, and resources for girls who have added obstacles for their continued education. We have established our first school partnership and are looking forward to meeting more and more. Our project is nearby to the Equator marker, lots of wildlife, and is just a short drive to the Kazinga Channel. Select below if you’d like to learn more.
