Collaboration at Casa Italia: Building Futures Together

The Casa Italia NGO Foundation was founded in 2000 by retired Italian Air Force General Giuseppe Mazzoni and his wife, Mrs. María Rosaría Soprano (Rosy), and its mission began as an intercultural project between people from Italy and Colombia. The Casa Italia Foundation NGO has been operating the Una Nueva Luz de Esperanza Institute (UNLE for short) for more than 10 years.

This unique operation incorporates support and resources from cooperative partnerships as well as community contributions within the primary, secondary, and upper secondary education system, benefiting more than 460 children and young people in vulnerable areas of the La Boquilla district in Cartagena de Indias.

Due to the passing of retired Italian Air Force General Giuseppe Mazzoni (may he rest in peace), the Foundation is currently operating under the leadership of Ms. María Rosaría Soprano (Rosy).
When they first requested support for the project, we weren’t sure what was possible. Over the years we’ve collaborated, we’ve been able to carry out construction projects to benefit your community and mission. The new area includes six new classrooms, a computer lab, and sinks.

This is a busy place. They almost always have something going on, whether it’s a traveler exchange group learning from the students, a health educator providing support to the school, or an NGO providing nutritional assistance.
We are very proud to have collaborated with Casa Italia and its project, now called the Instituto Una Nueva Luz de Esperanza (UNLE for short). We look forward to many years of collaboration.
