Kirindagama Primary School

Innovative Tech Center at Kirindagama Primary:

With less than 100 students, this primary school was working to ensure that its students received the same quality education as others. They were committed to expanding the students’ access to technology, and in 2024 they asked us for help with their project idea. They have been working to improve education in the area since the early 1990s and we feel fortunate to be invited to help with their expansion. They were looking to build a new schoolhouse that could operate as their Smart Classroom and Tech Center.

We developed a project with them that will allow their students to have access to media, computers, and technology in a modern classroom with modern amenities. We discussed the best approach for them, and they prioritized a perimeter fence to help protect their students and their work, as well as the potential for developing a solar power source to eliminate financial burden. The students were also interested in public health, and art. As part of the school’s campaign to help reduce the incidence of mosquito born illness, the students created an informational poster series. The student’s posters helped locally and were also shared with other schools where mosquito borne illness remains a serious threat. We hope the students feel proud of their involvement in helping other students to learn about mosquito borne illness.

Ideas for Further Involvement:

This school is within a great and supportive community. As a public school it is not in a position to accept cash contributions at this time. We are working with them to create more ways to stay involved and support development.
