Providence Academy

Community Collaboration at Providence Academy: A Path to Success –

Providence Academy began as a small primary school in Narok County, Kenya. When we first spoke, they had hoped to offer 3rd grade curriculum for their community. The demand for local school services was high, but the space was limited.

The 2024 improvement project included new schoolhouse, hand-washing station, lavatories, and administrative space. It also included the addition of solar power electrification, and water harvesting and storage. This was a large community collaboration. It included effort from the Narok Youth Empowerment Forum & Foundation as well as the Osigili Girls Empowerment Network. They are each contributing to the success of the program locally and are available to provide support to the community.

They recently shared the exciting news that they have expanded their services so much, and are now operating as a school, with community center services and resources for the neighboring community. Their approach to community engagement and sustainable development is laudable, it is easy to see why so many support their work.

Community Partners: Susan Kasero of the Osigili Girls Empowerment Network, Simon Ole Kerembe of the Narok Youth Empowerment Forum & Foundation. We also would like to acknowledge Mwito KKN Investments, a local cereal producer that provides for the school.

Ideas for Further Involvement:

Any of the community partners in this project can use your support. The school and the Osigili Girls Empowerment Network are each re-developing their websites. In the meantime, check out the NYEFF website, and let us know if we can help you to get involved.
