Rebuilding the Community Access Road for Safari Primary –
The Foundation’s first supported school in South Africa, Safari Primary, is in the small town of Hluhluwe in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Originally built in 1985 as a collaboration among community members, this school is very busy.
As a rural community school many students have a long journey each day for their education. In 2019, new lavatories and washrooms were built. In 2020, a dining and assembly hall, as well as water storage was added. When the community access road was damaged by flooding and could not sustain traffic it made it more difficult for the community to travel and for students to make it to and from school.
In 2025 we were able to rebuild the community accessway with the school’s help. They are now able to travel to and from much more reliably and safely. We are so pleased to be able to collaborate with them as they grow. We are thankful for the road repair and upkeep from the construction team at Matiwane 411.
