Turkey
Turkey has a population age median of about thirty-four and a total population of about eighty-six million citizens. As well, It is the only nation that is in two continents, with the Bosphorous Straight going right through Istanbul. It is literally a land that includes both the East and the West.
Local Challenges:
Like many nations, Turkey has worked to ensure everyone can access school, and they are also focusing on improvements to educational outcomes and equity. There are children who are still out of school and there are significant reforms in the works. They are also working to support refugee integration.
Government Initiatives:
Minister Yusuf Tekin has implemented changes to school and individualized assessments as well as updates to the curriculum under the Century of Türkiye Education Model. The new curricula expands to include an emphasis on creativity, critical thought, and civic participation as well as includes resources for refugee integration. It is an ambitious effort.
