New Construction Near Kawasoti: Durga Bhawani School Update
We are so happy to announce that we are supporting the Durga Bhawani School construction project. We learned from the school that their community needs more space for classrooms as well as access to clean water.
Located in Kawasoti, Nawalparasi, this primary school has around 100 students and even offers pre-primary support to local families. Serving the Bote tribe and the Tharu community, this school shows that communities collaborating can bring sustainable change.
This year, the school has 7 teachers including the principal. This school has been working to expand and offer resources and services to students and their families. It began as an early education school, in the year 2000. In 2006, the District Education Office authorized the creation of classes up to Grade 5 in 2006.
This project would not have been possible without the help of local community members on the ground. We are especially thankful for the work of Basant Raj Mishra and his family. Their support has helped the school connect with community and and grow into what it is today.

Ideas for Further Involvement:
This location is a public school and cannot receive cash donations without creating a vulnerability for the community. We are working on a way for people who visit the school to actively participate in its further development.
